First released on 25th February 2016, Grim Dawn is set in a fantasy world where, as an RPG, players take on the role of one of the only survivors of the human race that is at threat of extinction due to war between two higher powers. Players will complete quests, with up to 3 other players in multi-player mode, to save the human race and eventually reclaim the world.

With the option of either Single-player or multiplayer mode and run on Path Engine, Grim Dawn is available on Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. The game was both developed and published by Crate Entertainment, with an expansion ‘Forgotten Gods’ later being released on Steam.

Save Game Location

You may wish to access your save game files from Grim Dawn to create a backup, move them to a new computer, modify them, or utilize them for some other purpose (there really are a lot of possibilities). Thankfully, they're easy to access, but the location of them will vary based on your game settings. See help for your setup below.

Steam Cloud (Default) (also Steam Play on Linux)

Steam Cloud is enabled by default for Grim Dawn, so we'd recommend first checking here for your save files. To find these, first go to your Steam library location, this is by default (paste into your File Explorer address bar to quickly go to this folder): Im not lookin for a friendbarry mac.

If you've moved your Steam library, or the above path isn't working, follow this guide and then proceed to follow the next steps of this guide.

Once in your Steam library folder, you can find your Grim Dawn saves at this path:

userdata > a folder named after your account's Steam3ID > 219990 > remote > save

On Linux (Steam Play), your saves will be in a folder named pfx, which is located in the 219990 folder.

Grim Dawn Mods On Steam

From inside your Steam library folder, proceed into the userdata folder. Inside the userdata folder, there will be at least one folder: each folder in here is specific to a Steam account that has played on your computer and is named after the account's Steam3ID. If there's just one folder here, go into this folder. If there's more than one, search up a Steam3ID finder online and use that to find out your Steam3ID, then go into the folder that's named similar to that.

If Steam cloud is disabled, your game saves are a little easier to find, you can find them at the following folder:
